Sisters of the Cenacle
The Cenacle Sisters in Hoschton offer retreats, seasonal days of
prayer, spiritual enrichment programs and speaking engagements.
Mission of the Cenacle Sisters
Scripturally, it was in the upper room or Cenacle where Jesus,
joined by his friends at the Last Supper, left a legacy of love and
service. After the Ascension, in this same upper room, Mary, the
apostles, and the women awaited in prayer the coming of the Holy
Spirit. God transformed the hearts of Jesus' friends in the upper room
so that inflamed by the fire of Christ's presence, they could bring
God's love to the whole world.
The mission of the Congregation of Our Lady of the Retreat in
the Cenacle is rooted in the universal mission of the Church to
proclaim the apostles' message that salvation and life are in Christ.
Impelled by love of Christ and concern for the world in need of this
message, we give ourselves with all our strength to making the gospel
known so that it may become a source of life for everyone.
Constitutions of the Cenacle
Founded in 1826, in the mountains of southern France by Saint
Therese Couderc and Father Stephen Terme, the Congregation of Our Lady
of the Retreat in the Cenacle is an international, apostolic
community. Through retreats, spiritual direction, spiritual
development programs and other forms of spiritual ministry, the
Cenacle Sisters companion women and men in their search for meaning,
their need to have their faith affirmed and their ability to discern
the presence and action of God in their lives and in the world.
