When the more than 50 women of the South Deanery gathered for our Spring meeting on Saturday, April 12, they were treated to a day of prayer, information, sharing, and spiritual renewal through the words of our guest speaker, Helene Gaede.
After a fun “ice-breaker” using toilet paper (you’ll have to check with VP Ginny Fuller on this!), reports from Commission chairs, parish presidents, and discussion of new business followed. The women of St. James the Apostle Church in McDonough, under the leadership of Nancy Thibault, president of St. James’ CCW, and Ginny Fuller, our Deanery VP, provided everyone with lovely handcrafted decorations at their tables, and a terrific luncheon menu!
Out next “gathering” in the South Deanery (before Convention) will be as hosts of the MAKE A SMILE PARTY at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville on Monday, May 12th. Parishes are collecting shirts, caps, stuffed animals, and small bags of personal cosmetic items for the patients who will play bingo for the prizes. The party begins at 1:00 pm that day. All are welcome to join in this wonderful Community Affairs project!
Note: The AACCW deaneries differ from the deaneries of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. There are ten deaneries of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, and the AACCW is divided into three deaneries: South, Northwest, and Northeast.
