Goals

Oversight

  • Maintain program data base and program profiles
  • Site Visits-Two per year to ensure developmentally appropriate programming
  • Develop Quality Assurance Instrument
  • Provide two Quality Assurance Reports per year for each program
  • Assist with Plan of Improvement when necessary
  • Provide program feedback to Pastors, Directors, Archdiocese of Atlanta
  • Coordinate policies and procedures determined by the Office of Early Care and Learning, other state agencies and associations

Support

  • Develop Policies and Procedures Guidelines
  • Education and Training: Quarterly Meeting: Directors’ Forum
  • Communication: Monthly Directors’ Forum Newsletter
  • Staff Development: Provide workshops for staff, parents, and community based on Needs Assessment completed by each program

Program Development

  • Develop Archdiocesan of Atlanta Charter for new programs that will include:
    *Letter of Request from the Parish
    *Letter of Permission from the Archbishop’s Office
    *Certificate of Program Approval
  • Development of a new program application
  • Develop specific guidelines for hiring staff, job descriptions, staff qualifications
  • Create timelines and provide resources and collateral materials for new parish programs
  • Create New Parish Preschool Mentoring Program
  • Work with staff on hiring, interviewing, staffing patterns, marketing in conjunction with the Human Resources Department
  • Provide information regarding curriculum, equipment and materials
  • Assist with licensing policies and procedures (when applicable)

Accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

  • Motivate programs to seek accreditation
  • Educate and train staff on NAEYC guidelines and accreditation procedures
  • Assist in accreditation procedures-Program Profiles, Classroom Observations, Parent and Staff Surveys
  • Provide on-site evaluation and feedback
  • Participate in the Validation Exit Interview
  • Ensure accreditation of all new programs (after 2005) to begin and achieve accreditation within 3 years

Long-Term Goals

Resource Center

Create a resource center of early childhood educational materials, books and training videos for use by Parish-Based Early Childhood Programs.

Curriculum Guide

Develop a developmentally appropriate curriculum for use in parish-based early childhood programs.
