Vision

The Office for Black Catholic Ministry envisions a Catholic faith community joined together in Holy Communion, embracing and extolling the redemptive magnificence of God’s presence in the blessed and gifted disparateness of His created humanity.

Mission

The mission of the Office for Black Catholic Ministry is, first and foremost, to join with the clergy in support of the spiritual needs of the Black Catholic community and that of the larger Catholic community of the Archdiocese. It is a mission dedicated to serve human betterment and to eliminate human practices that abuse and degrade human dignity.

Values

The VISION, MISSION, and by logical extension, the GOALS AND OBJECTIVES are premised upon our belief in:

The Goodness of God and its manifestation in His Creation
The dignity of the person called to wholeness in Jesus Christ
The power of Community committed to prayer, reconciliation, collaboration, justice peace, and service

Goals

To become a means to facilitate inter-parish evangelization activities
To become a support resource that parishes can access to further their spiritual enhancement work
To foster lay ministerial leadership formation and involvement in parish and Archdiocesan ministries
To identify and secure resources that will support parish and inter-parish youth, young adult, and elderly ministries, as well as other ministries and programs
To develop interracial initiatives that will seek greater understanding and cooperation among the culturally diverse Catholic communities of the Archdiocese and among the larger faith community and secular society
To find ways to nurture the health of the Black Catholic heritage
To endeavor to sustain a spiritually beneficial involvement of Black Catholics in the National Black Catholic Movement and in other faith enhancement efforts
To support the Archdiocese’s Pastoral Plan and the leadership of the Archdiocesan Curia
