
Atlanta Celebrates Dr. King’s Dream
by Striving for Peace in Spirit and In Truth
Atlanta, GA – (December 10, 2005) For more than two decades, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, Office for Black Catholic Ministry, has brought the community together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s annual celebration will begin on January 14, 2006 at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, with the MLK Eucharistic Service. The celebration continues with the Youth and Young Adults on Sunday January 15, 2006 at St. Peter Claver Regional Catholic School. In addition to the weekend celebration, we are holding service projects across Atlanta in honor of King’s legacy.

Performers - There will be inspirational theatrical, dance and musical performances by a diverse group of youth and young adults from a variety of races and cultural backgrounds.

Featured Exhibitions – Atlanta History Center display on the Life of Dr. King with historic newspapers and audio recordings.
There will also be displays by Dave Thomas Foundation Adoption Program, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
MLK Kids Corner – The Lyke House Catholic Center College Students will offer fun activities that focus on the legacy of Dr. King specifically for children ages 4
through 7.
