The Office of Archives and Records at the Archdiocese of Atlanta gladly
accepts the aid of any individuals interested in interning or
volunteering. Intern and volunteer positions are unpaid. Due to space
concerns, the number of interns/volunteers that we can have at any one
time is very limited.
The purpose of an internship or volunteer position is to assist the
Archives staff with various projects. Examples of project duties can
include (but are not limited to) the following:
Filing and photocopying
Assisting the staff by responding to reference requests from staff, parishioners,
or the public
Sorting and arranging unprocessed collections of records and historical
materials
Entering data about collections into a computer database
Preparing descriptive information on archival collections by creating
finding aids
Identifying or preparing materials for preservation work
Deselecting materials based on our records retention schedules
Putting photographs in Mylar enclosures or documents in acid free folders
Shifting collections on shelves and in cabinets
Transcribing tape recordings and other information into Word documents
Qualifications
Must be age 16 or older
Conscientious attitude
Basic computer skills; comfortable in an online environment
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Ability to perform repetitive tasks when necessary
Available work hours are 8:00am to 10:00am, Mondays through Fridays. With
advance notice, we might be able to craft your internship or volunteer
experience to meet your needs and preferences.
In order to intern/volunteer with the Archdiocese of Atlanta, a background
check and completion of the Safe Environment Program are required. Please contact
