As a to the sanctity and indissolubility of the Sacrament of Marriage, Church law requires that any affirmative decision (one in favor of nullity) be reviewed by a second, independent Marriage Tribunal (the Provincial Court of Appeals).  A panel of three judges reviews these affirmative decisions for procedural and substantive accuracy.  Additionally, if one of the parties to a marriage case disagrees with the decision of their local Marriage Tribunal (also known as a First Instance Court), whether affirmative or negative, the party may appeal the decision to the Provincial Court of Appeals.

The Province of Atlanta consists of these dioceses:

  • Archdiocese of Atlanta, Georgia
  • Diocese of Savannah, Georgia
  • Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina
