Divorced and Separated Ministry
Separation and divorce can be two of the most difficult events in an adult’s life. It is sometimes particularly difficult for Catholics. Pope John Paul II said “I earnestly call upon pastors and the whole community of the faithful to help the divorced, and with solicitous care to make sure that they do not consider themselves as separated from the Church, for as baptized persons they can, and indeed must, share in her life.” (Familiaris Consortio, #84).
The Family Life Office hopes to support parish ministry to the separated and divorced and the people in the Archdiocese of Atlanta whom those ministries serve. This webpage was developed to provide information and to help people connect to resources that may help them.
If you are contemplating separation, or are now separated or divorced, we hope you will find the information on these pages helpful. Please make contact with some of the sources of support available to you in our parishes. God is with you as you struggle, and can often meet you in the caring presence of others.
