Mary Ellen Hughes: Director |
Mary Ellen Hughes, director of the Family Life Office for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia. She is licensed at the highest level as a clinical social worker by the state of Georgia. Her post-graduate studies have been in the field of marriage and family therapy and organizational systems. She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, as well as the American Academy of Certified Social Workers. Mary Ellen also earned credentials as a Board Certified Diplomate from the American Board of Clinical Social Work Examiners. She is currently a member of the following professional organizations:

Lynn Crutchfield: Program Coordinator |

Lynn Crutchfield has worked in the field of Catholic marriage and family since 1981 with her husband Larry as the greatest of volunteers! Lynn’s experience includes the programs of Engaged Encounter, Marriage Encounter, the PreCana Workshop, and the Sponsor Couple Program. Lynn established the Sponsor Couple Training Program in the Atlanta Archdiocese. She is also a certified teacher of Natural Family Planning (NFP). Lynn supervises and trains Family Life Office volunteers. She coordinates the efforts of over 30 NFP certified teachers. |
Ivonne Vreeland: Administrative Assistant |

Ivonne Vreeland has worked with the Archdiocese of Atlanta since 1990. She has served as Administrative Assistant for the Family Life Office since 1995. Ivonne’s administrative skill includes Excel and Microsoft Word. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Her bookkeeping skills include accounts payable and accounts receivable. Ivonne handles communication between the Family Life Office and the following programs: Marriage Encounter, Engaged Encounter, African American Marriage Program, PreCana, ReMarriage, Sponsor Couple, FOCCUS Training (in Spanish and English), and the Hispanic Marriage Preparation Program called LLASU. |
Linda Sweeney, LCSW: Program Coordinator |

Linda Sweeney is a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia. Since receiving her Masters in Social Work in 1985, she has worked in both mental health and health settings as a clinician and administrator. She has worked in the Family Life Office from 2000 to the present. Some of her work here includes volunteer supervision and training, developing educational and program resources for marriage enrichment and ministry to separated and divorced Catholics, presenting the Remarriage Workshop, writing for the Family Life Office newsletter and webpage, and developing educational and resource material for domestic violence prevention. She is an active member in the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Clinical Social Workers, and the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers. |
Silvia Maldonado: Registrar |
Silvia Maldonado is the Registrar for the workshops of the Family Life Office. Silvia is fluent in both English and Spanish. She has worked for the Archdiocese of Atlanta since 1989, but specifically for the Family Life Office since 2004. Her skill includes Microsoft Word and Excel. Silvia handles registrations for over 2000 workshop participants each year. She distributes the publicity for each of the following programs: PreCana Workhshop, ReMarriage Workshop, Natural Family Planning Courses, and the African American Marriage Program. |
