Roman Missal Implementation Timeline

 

Timeline for Parish Implementation of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal

Fall 2010

Appoint an implementation committee with a chairperson

Winter 2010/2011

Gather parish leadership together to plan the implementation process.
Help parish leadership develop and understanding of how the new translation impacts them.
Help each member of parish leadership to develop a plan on how to introduce the new missal in their area of responsibility.

Spring 2011

Make brochures available that explain what to expect with the new translation

 

Conduct an introductory workshop to make people aware of what is coming.

 

Include the New Missal Implementation in the 2011/2012 budget.

Summer 2011

Select a single musical setting of the new translation to teach to the parish
Consider using the ICEL setting that will be included in all the liturgical books

 

Select and purchase a participation aid that will be in the pews and shared with all parishioners

 

Purchase new liturgical books for the parish.

Fall 2011

Integrate the new missal into PSR curricula

 

Conduct adult ed workshops

 

Teach the new musical setting to all choirs and music groups

 

Share information about the new translation at mass through homilies and announcements

 

Include bulletin inserts in Sunday bulletin explaining the changes.

October, 2011

Begin to teach the congregation the new musical setting for the mass
Delay the start of mass by five minutes to teach a new part each week.

 

If possible, provide each parishioner with a copy of at least the people's parts of the mass.

November, 2011

Continue providing information on the new translation at Sunday mass each week.

1st Sunday of Advent
(November 27, 2011)

The new missal will go into effect.
