Marriage Preparation Programs

Catholic Marriage Preparation programs open to all couples in the Archdiocese of Atlanta:

PreCana Workshops

(12 workshops per year/ 50 couples per workshop)

A 7-hour, one-day workshop for engaged couples presented by the Office of Formation and Discipleship. Presenters consist of a clergy/couple team, a Natural Family Planning/speaker couple, and a financial expert.

The Greatest of These Is Love: Marriage Preparation Program

This is a 7-hour, one day workshop given by Deacon Fred and Mrs. Connie Sambrone. This special program explores those areas important to beginning and sustaining a committed Christian marriage. This program is for couples contemplating marriage, engaged couples and married couples desiring to attain a balanced approach to a committed Christian marriage. This program is unique because the size of the group is small, allowing more interaction, dialogue, and sharing among the couples. This program meets the requirements for marriage preparation in the Archdiocese and is presented through the Office of Formation and Discipleship.
(4 programs a year; 14 couples per workshop)

The Greatest of These is Love Workshop is held at the Lyke House at the Atlanta University Catholic Center:  809 Beckwith Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30314.

Engaged Encounter

This is a weekend experience for engaged couples preparing for marriage. The main focus of the weekend is on the couple, with time and opportunity to learn more about themselves and each other through personal reflection and dialogue together. Brief presentations by a team of two married couples and a priest or deacon precede time for couples to reflect privately on self-knowledge; communication, intimacy, and morality; decision making; sacrament; family, engagement, and betrothal. The cost of the weekend varies by retreat location; please see www.atlcee.org for details. Curso de Preparation Matrimonial en Española
(4 veces al año/35-40 parejas por curso)

Es un taller de un día para parejas comprometidas a casarse en la Iglesia Católica de habla hispana. Las charlas son presentadas por un sacerdote y parejas casadas. Three to Get Married

(Variable number of weekends per year—15 couples per weekend)

This program provides a comprehensive marriage preparation weekend. This weekend experience is for seriously dating couples, engaged couples, and married couples offered under the direction of the Legionaries of Christ. The program utilizes a variety of seminars, discussions and private time to ensure that each couple is presented with the spiritual, emotional, psychological and cultural dimensions of Catholic married and family life. It is presented by priests and experienced married couples. The program is from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon allowing you to stay in your own home each night.
