World Day of the Sick - February 11 2012
Since 1992, the Catholic Church has celebrated World Day of the Sick on Feb. 11 — the day on which the church commemorates the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes — under the sponsorship of the Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care. World Day of the Sick has three consistent themes. First, it reminds the faithful to pray intensely and sincerely for those who are sick. Second, the celebration invites Christians to reflect on and respond to human suffering. And third, this day recognizes and honors all persons who work in health care and serve as caregivers.

Disability Day at the Georgia State Capitol - February 16 2012
Disability Day at the Capitol is an event where people with disabilities, their families and advocates for disabilities rights rally together at the Georgia Capitol steps with state lawmakers and supporters from across Georgia. The event is sponsored by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD). It is the largest annual public gathering held during the official legislative session. More than 2,000 supporters from across the state are expected each year for a day of advocacy activities.

MC Entertainment® (AMC) and the Autism Society of America have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other words, AMC's "Silence is Golden" policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned, At 10:00 am.
